Barbara Blackmond,

Blackmond is a senior partner in the law firm of Horty,
Springer & Mattern,
P.C. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is also an Editor
of ACTION KIT for Hospital Law, ACTION KIT for Hospital
Trustees and The Medical Staff Leader Handbook Online Resource.
She is a Past President of the Society of Health Care
Attorneys of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania.
She has worked extensively with hospitals and physicians
on credentialing and managed care/integrated delivery
matters and in the defense of antitrust lawsuits filed
against hospitals and medical staff leaders. She is a
member of the American Health Lawyers Association. She
was a member of a small working group of attorneys from
across the country that authored a handbook published
in 1994 by the ABA Antitrust Section, Health Care Committee
entitled "Practical
Implications of the Health Care Quality Improvement Act." She
is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. She has also
served on the faculty of the American Bar Association Forum
on Health Law, and programs sponsored by many state hospital
associations, medical societies, bar associations, and
individual hospital board/medical staff retreats and leadership
orientation programs.
