Medical Staff Investigations
and Hearings is an intensive
day-and-a-half program focusing on building a solid legal record for those few
cases where a physician can’t or won’t change, in response
to efforts by leaders to intervene collegially and les formally
to protect patients through progressive steps.
The workshop will
highlight steps for conducting fair and effective investigations
and hearings, while minimizing disruption. We will walk through
the strategies you'll need to maximize your ability to gain the
immunity under the HCQIA, by demonstrating fair process. We'll
also focus on terms of negotiated settlements and preparing for
litigation in case a reasonable amicable resolution isn't possible;
and how to get ready for the new Patient Safety and Quality Improvement
Act to help improve care and protect peer review information
from discovery.
Using a combination of case studies and interactive
sessions, senior partners from the health law firm of Horty, Springer & Mattern,
P.C. will address strategies for protecting Medical Staff leaders
and promoting safe patient care and fairness to practitioners.
