Departments Issue Guidance on COVID-19 Testing, Vaccinations
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”), together with the Departments of Labor and the Treasury, published guidance that clarifies and strengthens COVID-19 diagnostic testing and vaccination requirements for health plans and issuers. Among other things, the guidance outlines circumstances under which health plans and issuers must cover COVID-19 diagnostic tests without cost sharing, prior authorization, or other medical management requirements for individuals with health coverage who are asymptomatic or who have no known exposure.
