HHS Grants Pharmacists, Pharmacy Interns Authority to Administer COVID-19 Vaccines* * * * *

In preparation for, and in an effort to expand access to, a COVID-19 vaccine, the Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”) issued guidance authorizing State-licensed pharmacists to order and administer FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines. The authority to administer vaccines has also been extended to pharmacy interns acting under the supervision of qualified pharmacists. Prior to being granted this authorization, pharmacists and pharmacy interns must satisfy several requirements, including completing a practical training program by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.  To read this guidance in full, click here.

EEOC Updates COVID-19 Guidance for Employers

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) released updated guidance for employers regarding COVID-19 and federal equal employment opportunity laws.  The updated guidance includes new questions and answers that address disability-related inquiries and medical exams, confidentiality of medical information, and reasonable accommodation.The updated guidance also clarifies that COVID-19 testing administered by employers consistent with current CDC guidelines meets the “business necessity” standard under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
