PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP:
Get By With A Little Help From Your Friends

The role of the physician leader has grown exponentially over the past two decades.  To keep up with increasing demands, physician leaders have no choice but to branch out and rely on the expertise of others.  This does not mean sacrificing quality or compromising standards.  Just the opposite!  But, working efficiently and effectively with others while serving as a physician leader does require some planning and knowledge.  Leaders must:

  • be familiar with the roles and responsibilities of those who provide support and assistance in areas like credentialing, performance evaluation, behavior and practitioner health;
  • properly structure relationships with those outside the organization to ensure that the resources live up to your expectations, provide information and tools you need to properly do your job, and don’t wander outside the scope of their engagement; and
  • exercise diligent and ongoing oversight as the relationship unfolds and/or continues.

We can help you navigate the sometimes complicated relationships you are sure to encounter while serving as a physician leader.

Join us for Grand Rounds 2020: Twelve audio conferences spread over the course of the year, with the goal of providing focused, manageable bites of education for Medical Staff leaders and those who support them.

This year’s series is focused on helping physician leaders utilize resources outside the Medical Staff in a manner that achieves the best results for patients and Medical Staff members.
